Today's data came in firmer than expected: September durable goods orders rose 1.8% versus a 1.5% forecast and 0.1% prior, and Conference Board consumer confidence jumped to 91.7 from 84.2, well above the 81 forecast. Next up is the Fed rate decision on Wed Oct 28 at 2:00 PM ET (expected to hold at 4%), with the press conference at 2:30 PM ET. On Thu Oct 29 at 8:30 AM ET come the advance Q3 GDP estimate (forecast 3.2% vs 2.2%), September Core PCE prices (0.3% vs 0.2%), and personal income and spending, followed by the Q3 Employment Cost Index on Fri Oct 30. The Fed decision and Core PCE bear most on Treasury yields and the dollar, while GDP and spending speak to growth and risk appetite.
